Morning Meal - Organic baby oat meal

In the past, Elise's breakfast is only milk and sometime is bread with peanut butter/jam.

This always border me what I can make further to enhance her breakfast, to have more choice of healthy breakfast.


Oat is one thing that I want to introduce her when she is young. I have tried many time to introduce, but failed!! Oat was rejected by Elise!! So I have stopped to introduce her for such long period!! ( while I am eating it myself :))

Recently, Elise wake up early in the morning and yes, we managed put her to childcare early to take the breakfast. Is time for me to take a peek on what the school has prepared for children.

There is once, school offered oatmeal, and in my mind,  "Elise sure won't take..Gosh!! Will she skip the meal?Later hungry how?!!" However,I still ask teacher to make a bowl for her to try and do her best to persuade her to eat ..and I stand aside to peek ..:P ( worried mummy)

Thank God, she spooned it and put it into mouth without reject!!
This give me a shock!! 

Yes!! This give me a hint too..Is time to introduce her oat again!!

There are many oat at the shelf. I found Organic Baby oat is most suitable to start ..though one of my friend started with organic steel cut oat ( which is more nutrient but require min time to cook). 

Reason I choose organic baby oat is FAST (I can instantly do it by pouring hot water into  it and soak it for few min and ready serve.) Secondly , it's FINE( not as rolled oat - texture a rough and chewy). Third, I chose organic because it FREE FROM CHEMICAL and itself has nut FRAGRANT ( which different from commercial type)  

I started by putting one and a half tablespoon into her bowl, pour in hot water, add a little milk powder inside and to make it more attractive I put some organic raisin and sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds inside..

First attempt, she curiously asking me ,"what is this?" and i told her is oatmeal. She tried it,tasted it. She accepted it! But just a few bite ( Thank God!) No forcing..i just stopped!


Second attempt, she requested not to put milk..as usual I put in some organic raisin and sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds inside..Yeah!! this time, she finished up whole bowl.

I tried to weekly offer once or twice...so that she won't find boring everyday having the same..:)

Now Baby oat meal become one of her breakfast menu...Hope that by introducing healthy stuff, she will grow healthily :)

Introducing new food to kid is not an easy task, it required a lot of patient and love! Just keep trying and encouraging children give it a try and asked them feedback to you about food ( if possible).Perhaps before start from the kid, it always good to start from adult first.(so u can easily identified how kid taste when you tasted it!) Lead an example to children (eg. eat in front of children) , soon the kids will willing to try what their parent is eating :) NO FORCING please!! 

As parent, I learn to persistent and insist ( stand firm) what is good! Don't give in "to kid" and give up to "good"  !!
